Chris Pyrate is an award-winning, International muralist, painter & designer originally from Washington DC.
Know for his distinctive art style, patterns and most popular, Floral pattern. Pyrate’s Art/murals have graced NBA & NFL stadiums while his design patterns have graced major fashion brands from high-end to streetwear.
Pyrate is currently leading an ongoing collaboration with NBA team, Washington Wizards, which started with the iconic Cherry Blossom jersey, apparel line in 2022. As well as recent and upcoming collaborations with Tony Hawks’s Foundation, Chinese footwear giant, Li-Ning, The Smithsonian and much more.
At Complexcon 2022, Pyrate launched his first independently produced shoe, The Gardener low, to immediate sell outs. He currently Creative Directs his eponymous brand, with a flagship store in Washington DC.
Originally from South East, Washington DC, Chris spent his youth painting and working, eventually designing for streetwear boutiques. After dropping out of art school; Chris moved to NYC to pursue a career in illustration. Eventually working as an installation artist for Brands such as Diesel & Adidas during campaigns such as HYPEFEST & the first ever large-scale Yeezy launch.
Following NYC, Chris took residency in Miami as a mural artist and afterwards returned back home to DC. Creating projects with Mayor Muriel Bowser, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Nike.
In 2020 Chris launched the high-end, art-focused streetwear brand “Chris Pyrate” to immediate success with consistent sell-outs. In 2021 he teamed up with the heritage, leather-goods brand MCM, NBA team, the Washington Wizards and cultural hub, Complexcon for ongoing collaborations.
